Million Dollar Weekend (Report Card #2)
Learn Through Action by Aswin John
Report Card #2
Starting this week with two practical tips -
When you’re tossing and turning, not able to sleep:
Just tell yourself “the body gets what the body needs”. This is a tip from Nir Eyal. It helps you feel less stressed about the fact that you might be tired the next day. You remind yourself that you’ll be able to function just fine. 👍🏽
How to reduce your time on YouTube:
I spend way too much time on YouTube - particularly going down “recommended video” rabbit holes to avoid hard work. This Chrome extension hides recommended videos so that you can be more intentional about your YT use.
Learning: Now, not How
“Now, not How” is a quote from Noah Kagan’s upcoming book, Million Dollar Weekend.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to be a part of a small group that got early access to the book and tried out the exercises while getting feedback from Noah and his team.
The biggest impact of this cohort-style learning was having a set time to get things done (Parkinson’s Law) and accountability.
I didn’t come away from the weekend with a Million Dollar business…
But I:
Got clear on what my goal was ($4k in profit by the end of the month)
Came up with ways to see if people would pay for my ideas before spending gobs of time building the product.
Launched little tests.
For example, I made a Craigslist listing to see if people would pay for in-home professional webcam + mic setups.

I spoke with brides who might want a custom manthrakodi saree made.

In the end, these experiments didn’t come away with the outcomes I was hoping for. But they’re experiments. We keep iterating until the goals are met 💪🏾.
Review of Last Week’s Tasks:
Build a template for the vendor listing pages, starting with vendors in the DC/MD/VA region.
Send the Manthrakodi Preferred agreement to at least 1 vendor for each category in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and the Tri-State area.
Have at least the to-dos section of the Manthrakodi Planning Template created.
Build an MVP for the Manthrakodi planning package. Focus on linking payments and how to track and pay out referrals.
I didn’t complete any of these 😕.
But, as I learned this week, I’m diving in too deep on these projects before seeing if people will pay for them.
This Week’s Tasks:
Reach out to 20 companies about producing and creating social content for their podcast. (This is something I’ve done before and the most clear path to $4k/month.)
Create the Manthrakodi Planning Package landing page and ask for pre-orders
With love,
